Social distancing may prevent an increase in infections, but many believe it has several unintended consequences.

As a result of this coronavirus pandemic, we as a society are being asked to do something which goes against our very nature as social beings. Keeping apart from one another may be aiding in the process of slowing the spread of the virus but it’s not always an easy task. We as human beings are hardwired to seek a connection with others.

Some researchers have said that long term periods of isolation could in fact lead to many other health issues including heart disease, depression, and dementia.

Many are concerned that this will not only exacerbate things for those who are already isolated and lonely but also might become an issue for others who are getting into habits where they are connecting less and less with others.
